Orange Babies x Impromptu Get Creative In Defeating HIV

ORANGE BABIES was established in 1999 by Senegalese creative, Baba Sylla, together with top make-up artist John Kattenberg and Stef Bakker, a creative director. Working in the world of fashion and design, they felt a growing need to do something meaningful for the most vulnerable members of our society in Africa. Orange Babies is a small NGO with an international allure, funding a number of “prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV” (PMTCT) projects in Africa as well as projects caring for orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC). It also funds several early childhood development facilities. Our ultimate aim is to help achieve an HIV free generation.

We are honoured to announce the launch of IMPROMPTU 2013, a limited edition red wine with an exclusive wine label designed by the renowned South African artist Sam Nhlengethwa, one of our
Orange Babies Ambassadors. This 200 limited edition of 1.5L (magnum) bottles of wine by the Saxenburg Estate is a 50% Cabernet Sauvignon/ 50% Shiraz and is presented in a dedicated case.

Great art is usually made from great passion, be it for watercolour, winemaking or cacophonous jazz. IMPROMPTU is made from a great passion for South African wine, art (wine as art), South Africa, and its people.

Conceived by Port2Port and long-term partner, Art Logic, we are very proud of this collaboration that brings together Sam Nhlengethwa’s beautiful and profound art piece entitled ‘Dedicated to Joe Henderson’ (echoing the power of improvisation; in life, art and jazz), with a well-crafted red wine, which Sam felt as the perfect match. In keeping with this spirit, Port2Port and Art Logic have dedicated this ‘wine art’ to the people of South Africa through a dual ailiation with Orange Babies and Lalela, the charities which Sam feels personally very attached to. Lalela brings arts education programmes to at-risk children who have very little or no access to the arts.

30% of the proceeds will go to Orange Babies and Lalela. The IMPROMPTU 2013 is now available for purchase for R5,000 at
