The re-opening of the Khaya Community Centre

During the last quarter of 2014, The Khaya Community Centre underwent huge changes and renovations, beautifully designed by 4d and A Architects, and generously funded by Metair Investments Limited. 94.7 Orange Babies cycle team

Orange Babies was incredibly fortunate to have our friend Tania Pfaff step up and offer to put together our very own cycling team for the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge. We had 55 riders and raised nearly R40 000, and looked incredibly stylish while doing so. Our ambassador, Marianne Fassler designed the most beautiful cycling jerseys for our riders, who were cheered on at every stop. We are looking forward to going even bigger in 2015!

A very special reunion

2014 marked Orange Babies’ 15th birthday. In celebration, two of our founders, Baba Sylla and John Kattenberg visited HIVSA in Soweto where a very special reunion was held with the first mother’s to benefit from Orange Babies projects and their HIV-negative children. Stories were shared and very heartfelt thanks given, a reminder of why we began our work all those years ago.

Ubuntu Help Portrait

Angela Mathee, who volunteers for the Ubuntu Help Portrait approached us and offered to take photographs of the children at our various projects. Their aim is to give photographs to people who would be otherwise unable to have their own portraits and is a project that inspires and delights. The joy the kids felt at being given their very own pictures was immeasurable, and we felt very lucky to be recipients of this great initiative.
